Why harmonics for tuning? Harmonics ring with a purer tone than fretted notes โ no finger pressure to bend pitch, no fret wire contact. The 12th-fret harmonic is the most reliable check that your open string and octave are matched.
For setup: compare the 12th-fret harmonic (exact octave) to the 12th-fret fretted note to diagnose intonation drift without needing two separate captures.
